In 1988 Mal moved to New Zealand, where he continued as a cabinet maker for several months until he opened his first company in 1988, which was a design and cabinet making business. Over the years Mal has become a multi award winning Designer in not only New Zealand but internationally. Mal holds the qualification of Certified Kitchen Designer in both New Zealand and Australia and is often asked to mentor students. He has appeared in numerous publications including Trends and Urbis and has featured on the cover of Trends twice which is the first time that any Kitchen Designer has achieved this honour. Mal is often asked to write articles and had a regular column in New Zealand Essentially Homes Magazine.
He has appeared on Radio and Television with his latest appearance being on My House My Castle where he was commissioned to complete a kitchen project. In an e-mail from these clients they quoted “We love our new kitchen and often find ourselves going into the room for no other reason but to stand in awe.”
Mal takes a bi-monthly seminar for the Home Ideas centre in both New Zealand and Australia and has been asked to be the Key Note speaker for the Australian KBDI annual conference.
